Folio (367 x 240 mm). Including an additional engraved title by G. Eddelinck after Le Pautre, 57 engraved plates (including 6 folding), 2 engraved text illustrations, dedication with engraved headpiece incorporating the arms of Colbert, woodcut headpieces and tailpieces, general index at the end. Only the initial and final blank leaves are missing. The colophon on page 419 reads "de l'Imprimerie de Jean Cusson, 1670". Plate numbering corrected in ink or pencil, contemporary pen drawing on the verso blank of plate 20. Contemporary marbled calf, spine with 6 raised bands richly gilt in the compartments and with a red morocco label with gilt lettering in the first compartment (split hinges expertly repaired, extremities rubbed, corners bumped), gilt table edges, red-stained edges, marbled endpapers. Internally lightly foxed (several pages and some plates more heavily), very small occasional spots, engraved and printed title leaf slightly angled inward with some clean repairs to margins, two plates slightly soiled, some light ink stains, some clean marginal repairs elsewhere. Provenance: Biblioteca Caproni Vizzola (bookplate to front binding); Biblioteca Giancarlo Beltrame. A very good, wide-margined copy in a handsome binding. A very good copy, text and plates complete.
