Description

Descartes wrote this treatise in 1632 and 1633. In it, he defended in particular the heliocentric system of Copernicus, but after the condemnation of Galileo, he decided not to publish this work during his lifetime. Finally, according to his wishes, it was only published after his death. At the end of 1663, the Le Gras family and Clerselier disputed the privilege of publishing Descartes' posthumous works. The printing of the first edition of this book was carried out by Iacoves (Jacques) Le Gras (1631-1686). Subsequently, another printing was made, carried out by Michael Bobin and Nicolas Le Gras (younger brother of Iacoves Le Gras). This means that our copy is probably the only one currently for sale in bookshops.
