Description

Second French edition of Cosmotheoros, an edition translated from Latin, following the original edition published in 1702. It will reappear in 1724 with the title De la diversité des mondes, a work in the style of that by Mr. de Fontenelle on the same subject (The Hague, Jean Neaulme). It is in this posthumous work that Huygens (1629-1695) puts forward suppositions about Saturn's ring which he had discovered in 1654 and where he evokes the possibility of other planets inhabited like ours.
